How to reset your password and set up two-step sign-in

Reset a forgotten CDECAD password through Discord, an emailed link or your security questions, then add email codes or an authenticator app.

Reset a forgotten password

Open the reset page, or press Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. It offers three ways to show the account is yours.

Reset via Discord

Press Reset via Discord and sign in to Discord. You land on a page to choose the new password. This works for as long as you can still get into the Discord account the CDECAD account was made with.

Email me a link

Press Email me a link, enter your email or username, and press Send reset link. The link goes to the email address on your account, which is your Discord account's address: CDECAD copies it from Discord each time you sign in with Discord. The link works for 1 hour, and one account gets at most one reset email a minute.

The page says the same thing whether or not the account exists, so it can't confirm a username to a stranger. If nothing arrives, look in spam, then use Discord instead. An account that never set a password gets no email; finish registering by signing in with Continue with Discord.

Security questions

Press Security Questions, enter your Discord username, and answer the two questions you picked when you registered. Capitals and spaces at either end don't matter in the answers.

The new password

It needs at least 8 characters, and the form says if it needs anything more. Once it is saved, every device signed in to your account is signed out, and any device you had marked as trusted has to pass the second step again.

Set up two-step sign-in

Open your account and go to Sign-In and Security. There are two methods, and you can turn on both.

Email codes

1. Open Email codes.
2. Enter your current password.
3. Press Turn on email codes.

Each sign-in with your password then emails a 6-digit code to the address on your account. A code lasts 10 minutes, Resend code sends a new one after 30 seconds, and 5 wrong tries mean you need a new code.

Authenticator app

1. Open Authenticator app.
2. Enter your current password and press Set up authenticator app.
3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator such as Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator, or type the secret shown with it.
4. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and press Verify and link.

With both methods on, Default sign-in method decides which one you are asked for first. The verification screen has Use email instead and Use authenticator to switch.

Where the second step applies

You're asked for it when you sign in with your password, on the website and on the in-game tablet's sign-in page. Continue with Discord goes through Discord's own sign-in instead, so turn on two-factor authentication in Discord to cover that route too.

That also gets you back in if you lose the phone with your authenticator on it. Sign in with Continue with Discord, open Authenticator app under Sign-In and Security, and remove it with your password. Email codes can't be turned off on an account where an administrator has required them; the page says so.

A ticket needs you to be signed in, so if none of this gets you in, use the CDECAD Discord linked from the support page. Once you're back in, a ticket under Sign-in and account is the place for anything left over. For Invalid credentials on a password you know is right, start with fixing invalid credentials and missing characters.
