Fixing invalid credentials and missing characters

Why the CAD says Invalid credentials, why a community or your characters are missing in game, and what to check in each case.

Invalid credentials is the same answer for three different problems. That is deliberate: if the CAD said "no such user" for one and "wrong password" for another, anyone could use the sign-in form to find out which usernames exist. So the message can't tell you which one you hit, and you have to check all three.

The username is not your current Discord username

Your CDECAD username is your Discord username, and it is copied from Discord every time you sign in with Discord. Change it in Discord and your next Discord sign-in changes it in CDECAD too, after which the old name no longer works with your password.

Type it exactly as Discord shows your username, which is not your display name, and leave off any @. The match is exact.

The account has no password yet

Every CDECAD account starts from a Discord sign-in. The password comes afterwards, on a registration step where you also pick two security questions. Leave before finishing and the account exists with no password, so every password sign-in answers Invalid credentials.

Sign in with Continue with Discord. An account that never finished registering is taken back to that step.

The password is wrong

Reset it. How to reset your password and set up two-step sign-in covers the three ways to do that.

Several wrong tries in a row and the form answers Too many attempts. with a wait. Every attempt during the wait is refused, the right password included, so wait it out rather than trying again.

Your community is missing after you sign in

Communities come from Discord as well. When you sign in with Discord, CDECAD reads the list of Discord servers you are in and matches it against the Discord server each community is connected to.

  • A public or unlisted community adds you at that sign-in.
  • A private community files a join request, and you become a member when one of its admins approves it.
  • Leave a community's Discord server and your next Discord sign-in takes you out of the community.
  • If a community's admins removed you, signing in again does not put you back.

A password sign-in doesn't read your Discord servers. After joining a community's Discord server, sign out and use Continue with Discord once so the CAD sees it.

Your characters don't show in /setciv

/setciv lists the civilians owned by one CDECAD account: the one linked to the Discord account FiveM reports for you. It only shows civilians in the community that owns the game server's API key. Check these in order:

  1. FiveM has a Discord identifier for you. Without one, the selector stops at No Discord ID found. Make sure Discord is linked.
  2. The Discord account in FiveM is the one you sign in to CDECAD with. A second Discord account means a second CDECAD account, or none. With none, the list is empty rather than an error.
  3. The civilians were made in this community. Civilians belong to one community, so a character from another community's CAD does not appear on this server.
  4. You are a member of this community, as above. In-game sign-in says That account is not a member of this community. when you aren't.

Characters a server synced from its framework before you had a CDECAD account are kept under your Discord id. They are attached to your account on your first Discord sign-in, or the next time you run /setciv.

If you've checked all of this, open a ticket under Sign-in and account and say which of the steps above you tried. For in-game sign-in specifically, the replies are listed in how to sign in to the CAD from the in-game tablet.
