Traffic enforcement is one of the most common activities in FiveM law enforcement roleplay. Having a comprehensive and organized traffic violation code system ensures officers can quickly cite violations, maintain consistency across the department, and create realistic traffic stop encounters. This reference covers all standard traffic violation categories.
Moving Violations
Speeding (VC 22350)
Exceeding the posted speed limit. Fine: 1-15 mph over: $100, 16-25 mph over: $250, 26+ mph over: $500. Points added to driving record. Excessive speed may be charged as reckless driving.
Running a Red Light (VC 21453)
Failing to stop at a red traffic signal before entering the intersection. Fine: $300. Includes right turns on red without stopping where prohibited.
Running a Stop Sign (VC 22450)
Failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Fine: $200. The vehicle must come to a full and complete stop before proceeding.
Failure to Yield (VC 21801)
Failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic, pedestrians, or emergency vehicles. Fine: $250. Emergency vehicle violations carry enhanced penalties.
Illegal U-Turn (VC 22100.5)
Making a U-turn where prohibited by signs, signals, or road markings. Fine: $150. Includes U-turns in business districts where prohibited.
Failure to Signal (VC 22107)
Failing to use turn signals when changing lanes or making turns. Fine: $100. Must signal at least 100 feet before the turn or lane change.
Following Too Closely (VC 21703)
Following another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent. Fine: $200. Distance should allow safe stopping in emergency situations.
Unsafe Lane Change (VC 21658)
Changing lanes without ensuring it is safe to do so, or crossing solid lane markings. Fine: $200. Includes weaving between lanes.
Serious Traffic Offenses
Reckless Driving (VC 23103)
Operating a vehicle with willful disregard for safety. Misdemeanor charge. Fine: $1,000-$2,500. Jail: Up to 90 days. License suspension may apply.
DUI - Driving Under the Influence (VC 23152)
Operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Misdemeanor (first offense). Fine: $2,000-$5,000. Jail: Up to 6 months. Mandatory license suspension.
Hit and Run (VC 20002)
Leaving the scene of an accident without providing information or rendering aid. Misdemeanor for property damage only. Felony if injuries are involved. Fine: $1,000-$10,000.
Evading a Peace Officer (VC 2800.1)
Willfully fleeing from a law enforcement officer attempting a traffic stop. Misdemeanor. Fine: $1,000-$5,000. Jail: Up to 1 year. Vehicle may be impounded.
Street Racing (VC 23109)
Engaging in a speed contest on a public road. Misdemeanor. Fine: $500-$2,500. Jail: Up to 90 days. Vehicle may be impounded for 30 days.
Driving on a Suspended License (VC 14601)
Operating a vehicle while license is suspended or revoked. Misdemeanor. Fine: $300-$1,000. Jail: Up to 6 months. Vehicle may be impounded.
Equipment Violations
Broken/Missing Headlight (VC 24400)
Operating a vehicle with non-functioning headlights during hours of darkness. Fix-it ticket with $50 fine. Must be corrected and verified within 30 days.
Broken/Missing Taillight (VC 24600)
Operating a vehicle with non-functioning taillights or brake lights. Fix-it ticket with $50 fine. Safety hazard that increases rear-end collision risk.
Excessive Window Tint (VC 26708)
Window tinting that exceeds legal limits for light transmission. Fix-it ticket with $100 fine. Front side windows must allow 70% or more light transmission.
Modified Exhaust (VC 27150)
Operating a vehicle with an exhaust system that exceeds noise limits or has been modified to increase noise. Fine: $100-$250.
No License Plate/Illegible Plate (VC 5200)
Operating a vehicle without displayed license plates or with plates that are obscured, damaged, or illegible. Fine: $200.
Expired Registration (VC 4000)
Operating a vehicle with expired registration tags. Fine: $150-$300 depending on how long expired. Vehicle may be impounded if severely delinquent.
Parking Violations
Parking in a Fire Lane (VC 22500.1)
Parking in a designated fire lane. Fine: $250. Vehicle may be towed immediately as it blocks emergency access.
Parking in a Handicap Zone (VC 22507.8)
Parking in a disabled parking space without a valid placard. Fine: $400. One of the highest parking fines.
Parking on a Sidewalk (VC 22500)
Parking a vehicle on a sidewalk or pedestrian pathway. Fine: $100. Vehicle obstructs pedestrian access and may be towed.
Double Parking (VC 22500)
Parking alongside another vehicle that is already parked at the curb. Fine: $100. Creates traffic obstruction and safety hazard.
Expired Meter (Local Ordinance)
Remaining in a metered parking space beyond the paid time. Fine: $50-$75. Repeat offenses may result in increased fines.
