How to Customize Penal Codes in Your CAD System
Guide to customizing penal codes in your CAD system. Charges, fines, sentencing guidelines, and categories.
Penal Code Structure
CDE CAD penal code system organizes charges into categories with configurable classifications, fines, and sentencing guidelines. A well-designed penal code gives officers clear guidance on appropriate charges and ensures consistent enforcement across your community.
Creating Charge Categories
Organize your penal code into logical categories such as Crimes Against Persons, Property Crimes, Traffic Violations, Drug Offenses, and Weapons Charges. Each category helps officers quickly locate the appropriate charge during report writing and ensures the code is navigable.
Defining Individual Charges
For each charge, specify the charge code number, name, description, classification (felony, misdemeanor, or infraction), fine range, and sentencing range. Include clear descriptions so officers understand when each charge applies. CDE CAD supports both mandatory and discretionary sentencing ranges.
Setting Fine Amounts
Configure fine amounts for each charge that integrate with the banking system. Set minimum and maximum fine ranges to give judges and officers flexibility. Traffic infractions might carry fixed fines while felony charges have broader ranges determined at sentencing.
Importing and Exporting Codes
CDE CAD supports bulk import of penal codes so you do not have to enter each charge manually. Prepare your penal code in the supported format and import it through the admin panel. You can also export your current penal code for backup or to share with other communities.
