BOLO System Overview

CDE CAD's Be On the Lookout (BOLO) system lets officers and dispatchers broadcast real-time alerts to all on-duty units in the community. Whether the situation involves a wanted person, a stolen vehicle, a missing person, or an officer safety threat, the BOLO system ensures every unit on duty is immediately informed. BOLOs are delivered instantly through WebSocket connections, meaning every officer sees the alert the moment it is created - there is no polling delay, no refresh needed, and no chance of a critical alert sitting unseen. The system is designed around the reality that seconds matter in law enforcement. When a suspect flees a scene, when a vehicle is reported stolen, or when an armed individual poses a threat to officer safety, the entire department needs to know immediately. CDE CAD's BOLO system makes that possible by pushing alerts directly to every connected MDT and dispatch board in real time.

Creating BOLOs

BOLO Broadcasting

The moment a BOLO is created, the CDE CAD system broadcasts it to every connected unit in the community via WebSocket. There is no delay between creation and delivery. Officers see a real-time notification appear on their MDT with the BOLO details, priority level, and any attached identifiers. Dispatchers see the new BOLO appear on the dispatch board with full details and can coordinate the response from their console.

Warrant System

Warrants in CDE CAD are managed through the Judicial panel but are visible across the entire CAD system. When an officer runs a name or plate lookup, any active warrants associated with that individual appear prominently in the results. Warrants link directly to the issuing charge and judicial authority, giving officers all the context they need to act on the warrant appropriately. The system supports three warrant types:

Cross-Reference During Stops

One of the most powerful aspects of CDE CAD's BOLO and warrant system is the automatic cross-referencing that happens during routine traffic stops and lookups. BOLO & Warrant Lifecycle

Every BOLO and warrant in CDE CAD follows a structured lifecycle from creation through resolution. The system tracks who created the alert, who served or cleared it, and when each transition occurred. Expired warrants are automatically flagged so they do not clutter active alerts. Cleared BOLOs move to the archive where they remain accessible for historical reference and record keeping. This complete audit trail ensures accountability at every stage.

Multi-Agency Visibility

In communities with multiple law enforcement agencies - police departments, sheriff offices, state patrol - it is critical that BOLOs and warrants are visible across all departments. A BOLO issued by the city police department is just as relevant to a state trooper who encounters the subject on the highway. CDE CAD ensures complete cross-agency visibility by default.
